Graduate School
The Graduate School at Kansas State University offers certificates and degrees at all three campuses: Olathe, Polytechnic, and Manhattan. Students may earn their degrees online, on campus, or by a combination of the two methods. Master of Public Health (M.P.H.)
Students who wish to earn their master’s degree in public health must complete 42 semester hours of coursework. This professional degree requires students to take 15 credit hours in core public health courses, a master’s thesis or field experience that consists of six credit hours, and an emphasis area that the student’s program committee determines that consists of 21 credit hours. An emphasis area may be selected from public health physical activity, public health human nutrition, infectious diseases/zoonoses, and food safety and biosecurity. Students are also educated regarding the social and behavioral bases of public health, the administration of healthcare organizations, environmental health, and epidemiology.

Concurrent Bachelor/Master of Public Health
Students who are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in select fields may be eligible to earn a master’s degree in public health at the same time. Students who are enrolled in the concurrent bachelor’s and master’s programs will be able to take up to nine hours for graduate credit in 600- and 700-level courses. Students may then use these nine hours toward both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees as long as they receive approval from the supervisory committee. Students looking to pursue this option would apply for admission to the Graduate School and to the public health program in their junior year of study. Upon completion of the bachelor’s degree, students would then gain full admittance into the MPH program within the Graduate School.

MidAmerica Nazarene University
School of Nursing and Health Sciences
The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at MidAmerica Nazarene University offers students high-quality, comprehensive nursing education. Students can learn as a graduate student seeking a post-master’s certificate or master’s degree, a working professional pursuing an accelerated degree-completion program, or as a traditional undergraduate. Programs include public health, nursing education, healthcare quality management and administration, and dual degrees in nursing and business.
Master of Science in Nursing Public Health Track
The Master of Science in Nursing Public Health track at MidAmerica Nazarene University educates students regarding the interpretation of contemporary public health principles. Students will explore the scope, philosophy, and history of public health practice, and the accelerated degree meets the high standards of quality in the healthcare industry. The program is designed for licensed registered nurses (RNs) who currently hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and students may complete coursework in eight-week modules by taking classes online or by attending class once per week. The 15-credit-hour public health track covers topics such as the fundamentals of epidemiology, foundations of public health, the control and eradication of global infectious diseases, and healthcare informatics, database management, and financial reimbursement.
