Baylor University was established in 1845 and is the oldest continuously operated university within the state of Texas. Lamar University

College of Education and Human Development

Lamar University was founded in 1923 as a junior college and became part of the Texas State University system in the mid-1990s. The school is a public university and is also a space grant institution. Current enrollment numbers include more than 15,000 students, as well as an academic staff of more than 630. The Texas A&M University system is one of the largest in the nation with more than 143,000 students attending. The primary focus of Texas Tech University Health Science Center is a set of programs in nursing, the biomedical sciences, pharmacy, health professions, and medicine. The University of Texas at El Paso was established more than a century ago in 1914 and is part of one of the state’s university systems. There are more than 23,000 students attending classes at the university, as well as more than 1,300 academic staff. Established in 1891, the University of Texas Medical Branch operates on a campus of 350 acres in Galveston, which is south of Houston. The school is the oldest medical school in the state and was once a school with a single building and just 23 students. Today, the school has more than 3,100 students enrolled and also provides those students with four on-site hospitals, a series of clinics, and a comprehensive medical library. School of Community & Rural Health

The University of Texas Health Science Center is considered the only academic health sciences school in northeast Texas. The University of North Texas Health Science Center is a school for graduate-level work in Fort Worth Texas.
