The changes to the American healthcare system in the last several years – including the introduction of the Affordable Care Act and revamps to the Medicaid and Medicare programs – have resulted in a significantly larger need for public health professionals. Scientific and technological advances are also growing the field significantly, creating opportunities for improved health for entire nations as well as introducing more patient-focused and directed care.
More and more students each year are taking undergraduate and graduate degrees in public health or public policy with concentrations in related fields, and opportunities for continued professional development – such as conferences, conventions, and digital media like blogs and podcast – have expanded dramatically. Here are five public health conferences in 2018.
2nd World Congress on Public Health and Health Care Management
Organized by the Scientific Federation, the 2nd World Congress on Public Health and Health Care Management will be held in March of 2018 in London, UK. Public health administrators, personnel, and educators from all over the world will converge at the Congress, featuring keynote speakers, talks, demonstrations, and exhibitions – and, of course, ample opportunity to network with public health professionals from all over the globe.
SOPHE Annual Conference 2018
The Society for Public Health Education will present its 2018 annual conference April in Columbus, Ohio. The theme for this year is innovation in public health, and how innovation and technology creates a tremendous impact on public health. Featuring distinguished fellows and keynote speakers, the SOPHE conference will also feature demonstrations, talks, and workshops.
3rd World Congress on Public Health and Nutrition
Also located in London, UK, the 3rd World Congress on Public Health and Nutrition will take place in February of 2018. Featuring over three thousand distinctive talks, workshops, demonstrations and breakout sessions, the Congress will feature experts from all over the world and represent a wide variety of specializations within public health, including medicine, pharmaceuticals, science, technology, and business.
APHA Annual Meeting and Expo
The American Public Health Association organizes an annual conference and expo with a different theme each year, ranging in topics from mental health to the effects of climate change on health. Although the APHA Annual Meeting and Expo date for 2018 has not yet been announced, it will likely take place in late 2018.
International Conference on Vaccines and Immunology
Organized by the Cenetri Publishing Group, the International Conference on Vaccines and Immunology takes place in Rome, Italy. Featuring keynote speakers, orators, and demonstrators who are experts in the field of vaccines and immunology – and their impact on public health – public health professionals from all over the globe meet and network at this groundbreaking annual conference. The date for the ICOVI 2018 has not yet been announced, but it is projected to take place in October or November of 2018.
From students in their public health degree studies to seasoned veterans twenty years into their practice, each of these conferences represents a unique opportunity to network, learn, and adapt – and innovate practice in public health all over the world.
