Established in 1870, the University of Akron is part of the university system of Ohio. There are more than 200 undergraduate majors available at the University of Akron, as well as 100 graduate majors. College of Medicine
The University of Cincinnati was founded in 1819 and was called Cincinnati College at its inception. The school is the oldest college in the city and has more than 44,000 students enrolled. As such, it’s the second-largest university in the state and one of the largest in the country, too. The main campus in Cincinnati covers 137 acres, the uptown campus covers 194 acres, and the medical campus covers 194 acres. The University of Toledo
Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health
Founded in 1872, the University of Toledo was once known as the Toledo University of Arts and Trades. The school was eventually expanded and renamed to offer more than 100 buildings on its large campus of 1,400 acres. The school has around 23,000 students attending with 15 varsity teams and a popular rivalry with the Falcons of Bowling Green State University. The school’s official colors are Tower blue and Rocket gold, and the official mascots of the school are Rocky the Rocket and Rocksy the Rocket. Although the school began as a private institution, it has since become a public university.
MPH in Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Science (ENVH)
The Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Science degree at the University of Toledo is part of the Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health System. The curriculum features technical, scientific, and regulatory aspects of the field of public health. Boonshoft School of Medicine
Wright State University is a public school in the suburb of Fairborn that was originally a small campus branch of Ohio State University. The school became a college in its own right in 1967 and was named for Orville and Wilbur Wright, the brothers who were the first humans to take flight in an airplane. The school has almost 18,000 students attending its suburban campus outside of Dayton. The official colors of the school are green and gold, and the school’s sports teams play as the Raiders in NCAA Division I games. The mascot for the school is a gray wolf named Rowdy Raider.
Public Health, MPH
Students in this MPH degree program in Ohio may choose to take a generalist track or a health promotion and education track. The program is the first of its kind to combine an interdisciplinary educational program with a community-based focus. There are more than 15,000 students attending the 140-acre campus of Youngstown State University in Youngstown. The university was established in 1908 and boasts more than 94,000 alumni. The official colors of the school are red and white, and the sports teams are nicknamed the Penguins. The mascot of the college is Pete the Penguin. The school was originally established by the Y.M.C.A. as a law school, and it evolved over the years into an institute of technology and a general college when the school’s educational offerings began to widen and expand. Youngstown University has no association with the now-defunct, for-profit Youngstown College.
Public Health MPH
